Noturious fugitive Asil Nadir returns to the Uk after 17 years.
Asil Nadir returns to the UK at 69 years of age to face his multimillion-pound fraud charges almost 17 years ago. The charges affected the success of his business causing Polly Pecker to completely collapse, a very successful food and electronics empire that he built from scratch.
Nadir will arrive at Luton Airport around lunchtime and will face “The Old Bailey” next week on Thursday. He is returning as he feels the “legal environment” is right for him to return, and expects to face a “fair trial”, which was not the case 17 years ago.
He is well known for donating money to the Conservative Government when John Major was in power. Despite embarrassing John Major’s government, Nadir has not ruled out helping supporting the government financially again, saying “It’s only fair if you approve of the policies of a government, if you want to extend their power, why not do it? It’s not criminal, it’s allowed.”
His latest comment might be the most truthful thing he has said in the last 17 years, “its not criminal, its allowed”. The Old Bailey will be deciding if he is a criminal and if what he did was allowed. Judgment day is coming for the “Notorious fugitive”.
