Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand Expected Back For Premier League Start

Rio Ferdinand is expected to be ready for the start of the 2010/2011 Premier League season for Manchester United, following a knee injury picked up on England duty.

The United defender was due to captain England at the World Cup in South Africa, but the injury he picked up after a collision with Emile Heskey has ruled him out of the tournament.

Ferdinand has now been assessed by the United medical team at their Carrington training complex and is recovering better than expected, according to Manchester united’s official website manutd.com.

A club spokesman told the website: “Rio has been assessed by club medical staff at Carrington this week and he is making good early progress from his knee injury.

“The medical staff have advised a two week recuperation period with his family before returning to Carrington to complete the rehabilitation process.”
