Hearn Takes Control Of World Snooker
Barry Hearn has won control of World Snooker by being voted in by the top 64 players in the world.
Hearn – who won the vote 35-29 – will take a 51% share in the business after resigning from his position as World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association chairman.
“I will make sure that give 100% every day to bring it to the level at which it should be operating,” Hearn said.
“We congratulate Barry on securing the votes of the playing members of the WPBSA and wish them and all the stakeholders all the best of luck in the future,” said John Davison, who competed against Hearn for the position.
Hearn believes he can raise the prize money by a million pounds from last year, but insists he’ll hand control back to the WPBSA if his plan goes awry.
With World Snooker due to become an independent business, Hearn believes the other 49% should be controlled by the players themselves.
“I’m delighted by the outcome. I do not underestimate the challenges that lie ahead, but for the moment snooker is united and the future looks rosy,” Hearn added.

This could be a little off topic… but I play pool as much as I can and it’s pretty imperative that you own a decent, quality cue to use. I guess it’s all dependant on how serious you are about the sport
